"MOUNT DESERT ISLAND"   This is the largest part of Acadia National Park.   The island is divided mostly by the Somes Sound body of water, a huge imprint carved in the middle of a colossal mountain after the ice age millions of years ago.   On the Eastern side of the island you'll find Bar Harbor, Seal Harbor, Hulls Cove and Northeast Harbor.  It is on this side that you'll also find the main entrance to the Park in Hulls Cove.  On the West side of the mountain you'll find Somesville, Hall Quarry, Pretty Marsh, Southwest Harbor, Manset, Seawall, Bass Harbor, Tremont, and Bernard.  See virtual tours of these villages near Acadia and Downeast.
