Exploration of  Acadia National Park "SEAWALL"  between Southwest Harbor and Bass Harbor on the South West side of Mount Desert Island
Located on the South West side of Mount Desert Island.  This side of Mount Desert Island is frequently referred to as the "Quite Side"  only because it does not have a cruise ship port  where ships come in and drop off passengers that crowd  the streets at times and tour buses drop off passengers that visit the shops and restaurants.   Nonetheless, it is a beautiful area and you should visit it and see the beach there, walk the Ship Harbor Trail and visit Bass Harbor Lighthouse like most people do.   You can get here several ways.  The quickest way is to head toward Southwest Harbor from Route 102 (stay straight).   If you want to to take the longer route, you can take Route 102 and stay right toward Pretty Marsh and drive along the Blue Hill Bay passing Seal Cove, Tremont and Bass Harbor.   We took the Southwest Harbor route. Make sure you pick up a map for Mount Desert Island Acadia from the visitor center we mentioned earlier.  The map will make it easy for you to get around.  Take a look around at the sights color coded for Seawall's area.
