Exploration of Mount Desert Island - Bar Harbor Maine: Virtual Tour Guide and Information on the "Cadillac Mountain".

At the Cadillac Mountain Summit, you are 1,530 feet in the sky with magnificent views.  Your views here are over Bar Harbor and the Porcupine Islands to the Northeast.  This mountain is the highest elevation on the Eastern Seaboard and during certain times of the year is the first place for the sun to rise and shine upon.  Keep  in mind that all this and Mount Desert Island was covered in ice millions of years ago and when the climate changed, it melted leaving it footprints of etched and smooth granite and unusual character.

Explorer Note: Notice the boulder, seemingly out of place?  That was tossed atop during the ice age.

Explorer Note: This is a great place to be when the sun rises.   It also draws a crowd of visitors at sunset when the mountain becomes illuminated as the sky turns to dusk.
